April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

The last Sunday in April is Blue Sunday and it is a day for the faith community to pray for the millions of victims of child abuse and for those working to provide hope & healing for them.

• Given the size of our county, data indicates that nearly 3,467 children are at risk for becoming victims of abuse. While it might be easy to think that our community is immune from this atrocity, the sad truth is that there are many children that deal with the effects of neglect as well as physical and sexual abuse. Many suffer in silence—without a voice of their own. As a community of believers, it is our responsibility to pray for those victims, both known and unknown. Please pray with us for the protection of children in Rockwall County—the youngest citizens of our community.

  • Pray that God would bring an end to child abuse.
  • Pray that children would have the courage to speak out about abuse they may be facing.
  • Pray for wisdom for parents to recognize the potential for and impact of child abuse.
  • Pray for the victims who have come forward to feel supported and loved as they heal from the wounds of abuse.
  • Pray for strength and stamina for those who investigate and seek to eliminate child abuse in this county.
  • Pray that the community would become more aware of the impact of child abuse here and that we would become more supportive of the victims who come forward.
